Travelers should be aware of changes mandated by the FAA at the airport and expect to experience new security measures such as:
- Only United and Delta currently offer curbside luggage check in Carry-on baggage will be limited to one bag plus a personal item per passenger. Personal items include a purse, briefcase, laptop or backpack.
- All vehicles entering the parking garage will undergo a physical search
- The FAA has required the airport to close the two metered parking lots and the Concourse C lot.
- Passengers will experience longer wait periods at ticketing and should expect to answer additional questions
- Carry-on and checked luggage might possibly be subjected to search
- All electronic devices will be x-rayed at the checkpoint. Laptop computers need to be removed from their case prior to being x-rayed.
- Only ticketed passengers will be allowed to proceed past the checkpoint security area
- Additional security screening, including the use of hand-held metal detecting devices will be continually performed on a random basis on travelers who have passed through security.
In addition to the long established prohibition of firearms, knives and explosive devices being allowed aboard aircraft, the following will not be allowed past the check-point screening area:
- Knives of any length, composition or description
- Cutting instruments of any kind and composition, including carpet knives and box cutters (and spare blades), any device with a folding or retractable blade, ice picks, straight razors, metal scissors and metal nail files.
- Corkscrews
- Baseball/softball bats
- Golf Clubs
- Pool cues
- Ski poles
- Hockey

- Walking canes and umbrellas (once inspected to ensure prohibited items are not concealed)
- Nail clippers with finger nail file removed
- Safety razors (including disposable razors)
- Syringes (with documented proof of medical need)
- Tweezers
- Eye lash curlers
